Mossvale Park
Saturday 23rd January, 3pm – 9pm

The glorious setting of Mossvale Park, just 2hrs from the Melbourne CBD / 10 minutes from Leongatha or 30 minuites from the seaside town of Inverloch, is a secluded oasis from the heat of Summer, with its lush lawns and magnificient giant trees.

Blues,Rock and Folk music from 3 corners of the world, Africa, America and Australia will be featured at the January Mossvale.

This January sees the first time visit to Australian shores for African guitarist/singer/songwriter, Vieux Farka Toure and his band who are coming to Australia to perform at The Sydney Festival and at Mossvale.
Mixing reggae, funk and R & B, Vieux Farka Toure breaks new ground as one of the first music artists to embrace the sounds of rock. The son of African music legend, the late Ali Farka Toure, he draws West African Malian traditions, and incorporates his father’s signature desert style blues to create his own unique style and sound. This is music from a contemporary Africa – urban, sophisticated, globally connected but deeply proud of its ancient heritage.
Included in the January line-up is Australia’s own Mia Dyson. Although Mia has relocated to the USA she will be back in January to do a few select intimate shows along the East Coast. Lisa Miller will have her next, long-anticipated album, Car Tape 2, out in the New Year and will perform at Mossvale Park, as will blues trio, Collard, Greens & Gravy. From the USA the extraordinary blues/folk musician, Charlie Parr, will also feature: Charlie Parr captures the intense sound of the folk music of America’s frozen north. His raw voice, lightning finger picking and plaintive but wry songs have made him one of the most important contemporary protagonists of the American folk tradition. Mossvale Park
Saturday 13th March, 3pm – 9pm

On Saturday the 13th  March the music as Mossvale Park will have a little more Alt Country / Rock flavour.  Multi-award winning Australian alternative country singer-songwriter Kasey Chambers with partner Shane Nicholson, father Bill Chambers as well as guests, will headline at Mossvale.
Receiving praise across the globe, 2010 will be Australia’s first chance to see and hear the alluring Eilen Jewell and her band. Eilen Jewell puts her own beautiful stamp on old country, folk and blues, her music has the languorous quietude of Gillian Welch or Norah Jones, but there is something more direct, almost in your face, about her stark, neo traditional melodies, subdued vocals, and confident, slow-swaying groove.
Also appearing at the March Mossvale will be American Mary Gauthier: “With songwriting as powerful as hers, there’s no need to go looking for qualifiers…She’s a unique, intrinsically valuable musical voice. And there’s never a surplus of those.” – Los Angeles Times. Also performing will be Australian bands, The Junes featuring Suzannah Espie and Sarah Carol, and rising stars on the Australian music scene, Sal Kimber & the Rollin’ Wheel.
