MEENIYAN MOTEL is 1.5 to 2 hours from Melbourne on the way to WILSONS PROMONTORY (only a 30 minute drive). You will find the motel has some of the most comfortable (3 Star) and affordable accommodation in the heart of Prom Country. The Meeniyan Hotel is conveniently right next door for you to relax and enjoy a meal and drink 7 days a week (bar meals $12.50). Moo’s at Meeniyan (closed Tue, Wed) and the Homely Cafe (closed Thur, Fri) are both nearby and are great for breakfast or lunch. Moo’s is also open for regional dinners Friday and Saturday nights. Andys Pizza is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday for evening meals. The Meeniyan Hall is just a short walk for you down the street. The Great Southern Rail Trail is across the road where you can walk or ride either west to Koonwarra and Leongatha or east to Buffalo, Fish Creek and Foster.

Hire A Bike and walk or ride the Great Southern Rail Trail, take a trip to Wilsons Promontory and the Wilsons Promontory Marine Park or visit one of the beautiful beaches at Venus Bay, Walkerville, Sandy Point, Shallow Inlet, Waratah Bay and Inverloch.

Celebrities In Town – Mercurio’s Menu has just been back to stay at the Meeniyan Motel for the second time in 15 months. Paul and his crew dined at the Meeniyan Hotel each night, had lunch in the ground of the Motel with pizza’s from Andy’s Pizzeria and enjoyed a BBQ breakfast every morning beside the pool, with coffee supplied by Marty from Moo’s at Meeniyan.

They are a great bunch of guys and it was great to have them back again. Meeniyan would like to say thanks Paul and the crew for doing a special feature on the town which will be shown on TV in 2010.

While you’re visiting Meeniyan, you must ask about the hit ABC series ‘Bed Of Roses‘ which is filmed primarily in the town. Both Kerry Armstrong (who is well known on Australian Television), plays the lead actress, and the late Bud Tingwell (known for his days in Homicide) were occasionally seen around town.
